YES! has been empowering youth to partner with their community to create economic and environmental vitality through hands-on learning and team-based projects since 2007. Students are the energy of the YES! program. YES! teams are student groups representing schools or communities in grades 7 through 12, guided by local, adult coaches. Since its inception in 2007, the program has engaged over 2,600 youth. These youth have worked with over 4,300 local businesses, organizations and community members to accomplish their goals. These projects have impacted more than an additional 125,700 community members and 87,400 students.
Our goals are to:
- Engage youth and empower them to take positive action in their communities
- Develop leadership, community-building, and problem-solving skills
- Increase awareness of career, economic, and entrepreneurial opportunities
- Increase knowledge about energy issues & opportunities
- Create sustainable communities
YES! is going statewide and accepting applications for new teams! To sign up for this program or learn more information about it, visit www.youthenergysummit.org/prospective-teams. Registration forms are preferred by Oct. 15 of each school year.
