Description:

WLSSD offers free walking tours of District facilities for school and community groups of 7 or more people (limit of 60.) Learn how "waste" is reclaimed, recycled and disposed of properly and how WLSSD works to protect the local environment. The two-hour FULL-FACILITY indoor/outdoor walking tour includes the WLSSD wastewater treatment plant (13 years of age), Household Hazardous Waste facility (13 years of age), and the Organics Composting site (7 years; under 13 years accompanied by an adult) all located at the District's Courtland Street site. Shorter, in-depth tours of one or more of these areas of operation are also available. Comparable video/audio tour presentations are also available by appointment.
