Description:

Located on the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the Outdoor Learning Center is only 4 ½ miles from the Vermilion Community College Campus. The center, formerly "Johnson's Fall Lake Resort", operates under a special use permit from the United States Forest Service. We are located on approximately 40 acres of land with over ½ mile of shoreline on Fall Lake. Wolves, moose, whitetail deer, otters, and many other animals are regular visitors to the site. Walleye, northern pike, perch, and bass are found in abundance in Fall Lake.

The center operates as a residential facility, providing food and lodging for programs from mid- May through mid-October. Most programs are offered through the Elderhostel Program (http://www.vcc.mnscu.edu/html/elderhostel.html) as well as the Environmental Studies Program (http://www.vcc.mnscu.edu/html/environmental_studies_outdoor.html). Classroom and meeting facilities are available year round. For more information contact, the center at the address listed below or at volc@mail.vcc.mnscu.com.
