Description:

The Environmental Studies Program (http://www.vcc.mnscu.edu/html/environmental_studies_outdoor.html) offers credit and non-credit programs in ecology, wildlife, northern ecosystems and outdoor recreation. A long standing leader in natural resources programming, environmental studies provides non-traditional classroom and field experiences which draw from the surrounding wilderness. An experiential approach actively engages students and participants in an investigation of the diverse plant and animal communities, the geology, natural history, and recreational opportunities of the iron range and the border lakes region. Programs through environmental studies include: Wolf ecology, beaver ecology, birds of the north woods, moose ecology, black bear ecology, mountain biking, rock climbing, canoeing, and sea kayaking.
