Septic systems treat wastewater for nearly 500,000 Minnesota homes. These systems protect human health and prevent environmental pollution when they are properly installed, operated and maintained. This VHS video explains how a septic system works; describes its components; gives tips on proper pumping procedures; septic system safety, use, operation, maintenance and trouble-shooting; and how to conserve household water. For homeowners, septic contractors, septic system distributors, planning and zoning agencies, water planning coordinators and local government officials.
