Description:

Elderhostel, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing exceptional learning opportunities to adults at a remarkable value. Now offered under the new program name Road Scholar, Vermilion has sponsored programs since 1984 and currently hosts around 20 programs each year. In addition to the engaging, small group instruction for programs three to six nights in length, the modest price includes meals and lodging. With close proximity to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, Vermilion's programs generally include studies in ecology or outdoor recreation. Offerings include ecology of wolves, birds, wildlife, wildflowers, and the northern forest. Participants can choose a program with an active focus, such as dog sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking or canoeing, or choose one with less activity and more emphasis on a topic such as regional history. Spring and fall programs on the shore of Lake Superior at a historic lodge are popular sessions. In cooperation with the International Wolf Center, our Intergenerational Wolf Discovery program is offered several times during the summer. To see a current list of our programs, please visit http://www.roadscholar.org and enter the search words "Vermilion Community College".

Refer to the calendar section of the SEEK web page to learn about specific programs. Program registration is conducted through Road Scholar(http://www.roadscholar.org).
