Post Date: September 11, 2019
Resource Type:
  • short PDF
Description:

Park Prescriptions is a movement to create healthier population by strengthening the connection between the healthcare system and public lands across the country. Park Prescriptions programs also benefit public lands by promoting park stewardship and increasing potential funding sources.

The Institute at the Golden Gate has produced a 44-page report to further develop the Park Prescriptions study concept, provide key findings, case summaries and resources. Included in this report is National Environmental Education Foundation's Children and Nature Initiative, which seeks to prevent serious health conditions and reconnect children to nature.

To access this report, go to http://www.parksconservancy.org/assets/programs/igg/pdfs/park-prescriptions-2010.pdf.

The Institute at the Golden Gate contributes to a more sustainable and healthy world by harnessing the power of parks and public lands to advance environmental stewardship and human wellbeing. A program of the Golden Gate National Parks Conservancy in partnership with the National Park Service, the Institute fosters new ideas, shares best practices, encourages leadership, and supports and implements public policy changes that will benefit people and the planet.
