Need an expert source on our state's natural resources? Check out the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
The DNR's mission is to: 1) work with citizens to conserve and manage Minnesota's natural resources, 2) provide outdoor recreation opportunities, and 3) provide for commercial uses of natural resources sustainably. Education is an integral part of our mission.
The DNR has a variety of educational resources focused on Minnesota's plants, animals and habitats including: posters, learning kits, books, and our award-winning magazine, the Minnesota Conservation Volunteer. Many are free and all are available by calling the DNR's Info Center at 888-646-6367. If you need activities correlated to Minnesota Academic Standards, check out the Project WET, Project WILD, Project Learning Tree and MinnAqua activity guides.
The DNR also offers teacher trainings, outdoor classroom development assistance, workshops, safety-education classes, and naturalist-led programs at state parks. Learn more by visiting www.mndnr.gov/education.
