The Nature Conservancy's Leaders in Environmental Action for the Future (LEAF) program connects urban high school teachers to share best practices in developing green curricula. These teachers, although located in different schools around the country, are united by similar objectives: increasing students' academic success while presenting enriching curriculum about their urban environment.
The LEAF Anthology of Urban Environmental Education is a collection of lessons and projects that has been developed and used in schools and by environmental educators. These lessons are assembled here, designed to inspire students to think critically, get outside of the classroom and apply the skills they are developing in their core classes to real world issues of environmental conservation and sustainability.
Middle school teachers can check out The Nature Conservancy's Nature Works Everywhere initiative for lessons appropriate for younger students.
