LaCrosse encephalitis (LAC) is a viral disease that is
carried by mosquitoes, and primarily affects children. An
educational brochure entitled LaCrosse Encephalitis and the
Tree Hole Mosquito, describes what LAC is, what is so
special about the mosquito that transmits it and what
citizens can do to prevent this mosquito transmitted
disease in their neighborhoods. Metropolitan Mosquito
Control District maintains an active LAC surveillance and
control program, that relies upon educating citizens how
they can reduce chance of disease transmission.
