Description:

Hartley Nature Center's mission is to inspire life-long connections with nature through education, play, and exploration. We offer field experiences that are "hands-on" and "feet-in" learning. These include a nature-based preschool program, school field trip programs, parent-child nature programs, youth and community group programs, volunteer opportunities, sponsorship programs, and occasional adult evening programs.

Hartley Nature Center programs are at Duluth's Hartley Park. Duluth's Hartley Park features 660 acres of diverse forest, field, pond and wetland habitats. A Duluth city park, Hartley has many kilometers of skiing, mountain biking, and hiking trails which include overlooks of Lake Superior from rocky outcrops. This 'urban wilderness' has a rich human history as well: it was once the site of vegetable and dairy farming, soap box derby races, and ice-skating.
