Happy Dancing Turtle is a non-profit located on the Hunt Utilities Group Campus in Pine River, MN. Our mission is to promote sustainable living through education opportunities, collaborations, and outreach efforts.
We offer classes to youth and adults through local Community Education programs, covering assorted aspects of sustainable living.
We host events like Back To Basics - a winter workshop event.
We offer educational tours of the Hunt Utilities Group Campus, including examples of high-performance and energy-efficient buildings, passive solar design, natural building, earthen plaster (cob) application and artwork, permaculture, water catchment, composting, a large wind turbine, and beekeeping. Depending on interest, tours may include visits to other campus organizations, such as Rural Renewable Energy Alliance, featuring solar panel manufacturing and installation.
We work with local school systems to provide assistance and programming for events like Earth Day, and also host field trips for area school groups which include educational tours and hands-on activities.
We offer Eco Camp for kids in the summer, where they learn about living sustainably.
We collaborate with local community groups, and sponsor community events and programs.
