Composting Fish Waste: An Alternative for Minnesota Residents
Post Date: September 11, 2019
Resource Type:
  • short PDF
Description:

In just one season resorts, parks, and marinas can save thousands of dollars by composting fish wastes instead of hauling them to the dump. Composting fish waste reduces odors, insect problems and the amount of waste. Composting effectively stabilizes organic materials that can be returned to the soil. Five demonstration projects were conducted to determine the feasibility of composting at Minnesota resorts and marinas. This illustrated manual explains a simple structure and process for composting up to 25 five-gallon buckets of fish per week.
