Description:

Carbon Conscious Consumer (C3) is a national climate campaign sponsored by the Center for a New American Dream that challenges individuals to establish climate-friendly daily habits and inspire their friends to do the same. Participants who most creatively and effectively spread the word will win prizes.

Climate scientists say we need to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions 80% b 2050 in order to stave off the most catastrophic impacts of climate change. In a world where a growing population pursues an ever-growing material standard of living - the ýold American dreamý - all the technological innovations in the world will be unable to keep up. We need a new American dream that empowers people to live in a way that delivers a high quality of life for themý. without delivering irreversible climate change for their children.

C3 seeks to start Americans down the path toward living in that way. Every month, New American Dream will focus on one easy, habit-forming step Americans can take to cut carbon emissions and improve quality of life.
