SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Interpretive Center Manager, the Education and Digital Learning Specialist will be responsible for presenting programs including WolfLink, public programs and webinars, supporting social media and website content through photography and video as well as marketing and promoting education programs to past and prospective schools and participants.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Duties 40%:
- Deliver high quality wolf education programs for visitors and program participants through daily programs, events, WolfLink classes, webinars and Learning Adventures.
Digital Learning Duties 30%:
- Support social media and website content by taking photos and videos of programs and participants, visitors, Ambassador wolves and the facility.
- Develop concepts for social media content that encourage learning about wolves and help build the IWC’s online community.
- Create a database for easy access to all photos and video that can be used by both the Ely and Twin Cities offices.
Marketing/promotional support 30%:
- Conduct telephone calling and email contact with educators, STEM/STEAM coordinators and other school district administrators that result in achieving program registration goals for the Education Department.
- Compile data from previous participants to promote repeat educational programs as a result of phone call contact and email campaigns.
- Research and test techniques for promotion of International Wolf Center education programs through different social media channels
ABILITIES AND WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is subject to a variable work schedule based on educational programming and organization needs.
Knowledge:
- Bachelor’s Degree in biology, environmental education or related field
- Knowledge of presentation software programs and hardware associated with presentations
- Knowledge of online webinar software programs
- Knowledge of photography and video equipment
- Knowledge of wolf biology, behavior, research, status and management issues (preferred)
Skills:
- Experience working in an environmental education setting delivering programs to a variety of ages and group sizes using age appropriate teaching methods, activities and styles
- Effective and efficient written and oral communication skills specifically in a social media context
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with a Content Management System for organizing video and photo content (preferred)
Abilities:
- Ability to function at a low level of supervision
- High level of initiative, self-motivation, creativity and enthusiasm
- Able to follow direction and protocols
- Ability to create, manipulate, and utilize spreadsheet, database, word-processing and email programs and utilize basic internet applications
- Able to synthesize and analyze complex wolf information in written and visual form
- Able to effectively use different social media platforms for communication and learning
- Must be able to conduct outdoor programming in all weather conditions and walk over uneven terrain
- Ability to speak and write to colleagues, customers, participants and coworkers in fluent English
- Able to travel occasionally, sometimes in extreme conditions or remote areas
- Availability to work weekends, evenings and some holidays
- Able to sit, stand, walk and carry/lift up to 30 pounds
- Able to assist participants with outdoor gear, such as strapping on snowshoes, in extreme temperatures
- Required to maintain current First Aid and CPR certification
- Valid driver’s license with no restrictions other than corrective lenses
