Climate Impact Corps is an AmeriCorps program coordinated by Ampact, a MN-based nonprofit organization.
Position Summary
Climate Impact Corps members serve with public agencies and non-profit organizations across the State of Minnesota to support local efforts to mitigate and prepare for climate change. Climate Impact Corps members serve in one of three initiaitives:
- Community Forestry – Members support communities large and small by preserving and increasing tree canopy.
- Home Energy– Members support Minnesotans who are eligible for the Weatherization Assistance Program by aiding energy auditors and education residents on energy efficiency.
- Community Resilience- Members support sustainability projects, encourage local environmental action, and provide education to help households and organizations make sustainable choices.

Service Term: October 24, 2022 – July 15, 2023
Benefits
Climate Impact Corps members serving in 40 hour per week roles receive:
- A stipend of $1,100 paid every 2 weeks
- $25,300 total for 1,700 hours of service starting in August 2022
- Up to $6,495 for tuition or student loans*
- Federal student loan forbearance and interest repayment
- Individual health insurance — Monthly premium 100% covered
- Child care assistance — Based on family size and income
- Beginning in 2022-23, Home Energy members will have the option to earn the BPI Building Analyst certification at no cost. This credential prepares members to launch a career in the green building sector and earn $20+ an hour as entry-level Home Energy Auditors.
What it Takes
Our members come from all walks of life. The most important qualification is a passion to take action for your community – and meet the following minimum qualifications. By the time they begin their service, our members are
- Dependable and have a history of good attendance
- Able to understand and follow instructions
- Set a pace and maintain a service schedule of 40 or 25 hours per week
- Competent with basic computer skills (like email and navigating online)
- Fluent in English for speaking, reading, and writing
- 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent
- A citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident of the United States*
- Able to successfully complete a background check
*Applicants who have received deferred action for childhood arrivals (DACA) through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security are not eligible to serve as AmeriCorps members at this time.
