Westwood Hills Nature Center is a city owned and operated nature center located in St. Louis Park. It is a 160 acre natural area featuring woods, wetlands and a restored prairie. There are over three miles of trails with a variety of surfaces including crushed concrete, boardwalk, woodchipped, and paved trails.
The interpretive center is open everyday of the week, February through November, and Monday through Friday in December and January (excluding some holidays). The interpretive center has interactive exhibits, live animals,and bathrooms. The trails are open from dawn to dusk throughout the year.
Other features of note include a honeybee observation apiary, picnic area and playground, free use of Park Packs full of nature activities, snowshow and kicksled rentals, canoe rentals, and free use of fishing poles. There is also an enclosed pinic pavilion and small conference center (the Brick House) available for rental.
Westwood Hills Nature Center offers engaging year-round programs led by experienced naturalists. Programs offer hands-on opportunities to learn, explore and discover and include (but are not limited to): school field trips, summer day camps, preschool classes, familiy programs, birthday parties, puppet shows, and the annual Halloween Party.
There is no parking charge to enter the park, but some programs have fees.
