Description:

The Water Outreach Education project works in collaboration with the federal agency clean and safe water partnership and other networks to develop and promote best education practices (BEPs) for water education and to improve access to education resources and strategies. Our goal is to increase public understanding and involvement in community decision-making about water issues through improved education practices and improved access to education resources. Project activities reflect advice provided by federal agency clean and safe water partners and a national network of water education organizations created and supported by the work of several national organizations over the last decade.

Whether planning a new outreach effort or revitalizing an existing one, incorporating best education practices (BEPs) into your water management strategies is critical for achieving success. These resources help educators to:

  • Connect the situation with the people
  • Choose achievable goals
  • Select relevant outreach techniques
  • Get measurable results
  • Tools for Teaching
Water resource professionals work with a variety of audiences and in a variety of situations. The "Tools for Teaching" section provides you with tools you need to develop and implement successful teaching or training initiatives. Resources range from tips about how to facilitate or how to make a presentation to helpful advice about typical outreach events.

The National Extension Water Outreach Education web site and resources are based upon work supported by the Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES), U.S. Department of Agriculture, under Agreement No. 00-51130-9714. It is a collaboration of CSREES and other public and private clean and safe water partners to promote best education practices for water education and to improve access to education resources and strategies.
