The River Monitors Manual produced by the Mississippi Headwaters Board will help citizens understand what keeps a river healthy, acquire the skills to investigate and evaluate the health of a river or stream, provide ideas for taking action to protect a river, and generate information that is valuable and useful to environmental decision makers. The Manual instructs readers the basic concepts of river ecology, the fundamentals of monitoring river water quality, how to interpret results and take actions to protect your river or stream. Using the River Watch monitoring model as a basis, the Manual will also help you choose the level of monitoring that is appropriate for the resources you have available.
