Post Date: September 11, 2019
Resource Type:
  • CD | DVD
Description:

How is water cleaned up after it has been used by residents and businesses? This video offers a "virtual tour" of the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District (WLSSD)'s wastewater treatment process. This living process depends upon tiny beneficial bacteria to clean up the water, much like water is cleaned in a natural river. WLSSD was established in 1971 to address serious pollution issues in the lower St. Louis River. The video explores how both technology and the attitudes and practices of local residents and businesses have played a role in cleaning up the River.
