Conveniently located halfway between the Twin Cities and Mankato, the Ney Nature Center (NNC) is home to 446 acres of all the natural world has to offer – forests, prairie, meadows, bluffs, creeks, and a variety of wildlife.
Our Mission is to manage and protect the Ney Wildlife Preserve through education and interaction with the natural world.
Our Vision is to inspire appreciation and respect for nature.
We continue to develop and deliver high-quality, innovative, and traditional nature-oriented educational programs for the membership and the public, drawing and inspiring a broad base of participants. Day camp is offered during the summer as well as during the winter to give kids the opportunity to explore the natural world through different themed programs. We encourage groups to visit us for field trip activities such as a pond study, homestead tour, bird conservation, mammal study, snowshoeing, etc.
Each Earth Day we celebrate by hosting a Green Living Expo to share the importance of natural resource protection. We invite vendors and informational tabling to educate guests on more environmentally friendly ways to live.
We offer a Minnesota Master Naturalist Volunteer class to gather like-minded adults for outdoor learning and adventure in the various biomes Minnesota offers. In addition, we host seasonal programs and events such as Monarch Butterfly tagging and the Christmas Bird Count.
