Description:

Investigate biomes in class

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to live in a different part of the world? What would the weather be like? What kinds of animals would you see? Which plants live there? By investigating these questions, you are learning about biomes. A biome is a community of plants and animals living together in a certain kind of climate. Scientists have classified regions of the world into different biomes. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to investigate biomes then test your knowledge about the biomes by completing each mission. This website provides a detailed description of 7 different biomes.

Check out the Mission: Biomes website at http://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/Experiments/Biome/ for information on how to participate in this program.

The Earth Observatory's mission is to share with the public the images, stories, and discoveries about climate and the environment that emerge from NASA research, including its satellite missions, in-the-field research, and climate models.
