Description: |
The forests of the "Driftless Area," an island of unglaciated land in western Wisconsin, southeastern Minnesota and northeastern Iowa are dominated by oak. However, the oak resource, which contributes much to the economy of this area, has been declining. This guide recommends silvicultural practices for (1) regenerating oaks (especially northern red oak), (2) increasing the growth rate of oaks in established stands and (3) rehabilitating stands that have been indiscriminately cut. For forestry professionals, students of forestry, foresters and owners of forested land. Well illustrated with 7 appendices.
