As the Forest Grows, So Grow the Children. As the Children Grow, So Grows the Forest. KSE Kids from 5 North Minneapolis schools have begun creating a native Minnesota forest along Shingle Creek known as "The Kids for Saving Earth Children's Forest." This new forest is a living, learning laboratory in an urban setting. The kids are not only planting trees and native plants over the coming years, they are also making seasonal field trips to the KSE Children's Forest with on-site educational support from a local naturalist.
An important goal of the project is to educate and empower young people through a hands on program that teaches the importance of forests, particularly in their own "neck of the woods." This unique forest project is a great new way for urban kids to "dig in" and work together for a healthier, more beautiful environment.
