Description: |
Evidence of Minnesota's 10,000 years of human history is all around us. It exists in the form of structures, archaeological sites, cemeteries and cultural landscapes created by people in the past. These are "heritage resources"; so called because they represent the common heritage of all Minnesotans. When properly studied, heritage resources can tell us about the lives and cultures of those who lived in Minnesota before us. This brochure explains the origins of heritage resources, how our understanding of them is changing, how to recognize them, and how to protect them on private forest lands. It also outlines a landowner's rights and responsibilities and where you can get more information on heritage resources in Minnesota.
