Hennepin County's Department of Environmental Services is committed to protecting the environment and conserving resources for future generations. Our programs focus on the reduction and responsible management of wastes, the protection of natural resources and the promotion of environmental stewardship.
Environmental Services has programs that address environmental issues in the following areas:
Environmental Education and Outreach

Properly managing hazardous waste
Operating the Hennepin Energy Recovery Center, a Waste-to-Energy facility

The Environmental Education and Outreach unit (EE&O) aims to develop a citizenry and business community that has the knowledge, skills, attitudes, motivation and commitment to work individually and collectively toward sustaining a healthy environment.
