Family Science StoryPacks are thinking, discovering, and playing tools for children ages 5 through 10 and adults to explore together. In a brightly colored backpack, families find imaginative books that weave science facts and fiction into delightful children’s stories. They also find simple tools and props to explore, create, and play. Each StoryPack has a different science theme—like weather, chemistry, and insects—but all StoryPacks are developed around these two concepts:
• Everyone sees and uses science every day.
• Reading and science together build essential thinking skills for our children.
Families and other adult-child friends can borrow StoryPacks from Minnesota Children’s Museum or selected schools and community organizations. Support for this program was provided by a grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Precollege and Public Science Education Program.
