Energy Efficient Ely (E3) is a grassroots organization committed to bringing the Ely community together to reduce our dependence on outside sources of energy and to increase the use of local sustainable sources of energy and food production.
E3 came into existence after Governor Pawlenty and Will Steger brought an energy symposium to Ely in the winter of 2008. The idea that Ely could be a leader in the quest for energy independence and reduced CO2 loading was exciting and seemed possible. A few downtown business people started meeting to discuss ways of reducing energy use and E3 was formed.
VISION
We are investing our human energy into educating others on what can be done to sustain our community and make it prosper in the future.
We believe that local groups like E3 around the planet will ultimately make the difference that is needed to reduce carbon in our atmosphere and bring us closer to energy independence.
MISSION
The mission of E3 is to encourage through example, education, and community collaboration, the efficient use of energy resources in the Ely area.
