Rendering plants are decreasing in number and of those that remain, many do not want to process poultry. Incinerating dead birds is expensive and may cause air pollution. Burying the carcasses can pollute the groundwater. Composting, therefore is a logical solution for many poultry operations. Describes safe, effective, inexpensive and non-time-consuming composting method for dead bird disposal. Includes plan and perspective of a poultry carcass compost facility. For poultry producers, extension educators, pollution control authorities.
