The Audubon Center of the North Woods, located on Grindstone Lake near Sandstone, MN, is a non-profit residential environmental learning center (RELC), conference & retreat center, and wildlife rehabilitation facility.
We are proud leaders in environmental education and renewable energy. Our diverse 535-acre sanctuary includes a variety of habitats, including old-growth red and white pines, hardwood forests, restored wetlands and prairies. We offer a great variety of environmental learning experiences for people of all ages.
Our unique center features geothermal heating/cooling and grid-connected solar and wind power systems. We have facilities that can provide lodging and meals for up to 150 participants and visitors to the Audubon Center of the North Woods have the opportunity to experience a range of dispersed learning environments including our wildlife barn, yurt, log cabin, formal classrooms, lounges, and of course, the great outdoors!
Conveniently located about halfway between Duluth and the Twin Cities.
