Description:

Hands-on environmental education programs are provided on a variety of natural resource topics adaptable to all ages. Outdoor programs are delivered year-round at the 640 acre Fertile Sand Hills Wilderness Sanctuary (within one mile of the City of Fertile). Programs include diverse landscapes such as native prairie, sand dunes, oak savanna, and riverine communities associated with the Sand Hill River, which flows through the site. A Nature Center building provides bathrooms, shelter, and serves as a staging area for the outdoor programs. Day use programs are four hours in length running from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students participate in a variety of outdoor activities selected from the course planner or special activities at the teacher's request. Agassiz ELC staff conduct the programs on-site or assist visiting teachers with program delivery.

Contact Agassiz ELC Education Director Kirsten Fuglseth for a course planner and scheduling information.
