Post Date: September 11, 2019
Resource Type:
  • Book | Magazine
Description:

Catch the Wind, Harness the Sun features activities for children (ages 8-13) that will ignite their interest in using the sun and wind to create and play with renewable energy.

Catch the Wind, Harness the Sun gives kids, teachers and parents 22 hands-on, exciting, green energy projects and experiments that focus on using the power of the sun and wind to produce and play with renewable energy. Children ages 8 to 13 will have fun while increasing their knowledge of environmental science and learning how to fight global climate change.

Projects range from the quick and simple, like the Pie-Plate Wind Maker to the thrillingly large-scale, like Pedal Power, in which kids use a bicycle to charge a 12-volt battery for powering electronic devices. Exciting illustrations, beautiful photographs, games and fun-fact sidebars entertain and spark curiosity. Children will be inspired by the Green Giants - real kids from around the world who are leading the way with renewable energy initiatives and other environmental projects.

224 pages, 8 1/2 x 10 7/8. Full-color photographs & illustrations, activities, background information, resources.
