Primary Objective of Position:
Assist supervisor and other department staff with presenting nature and recreation programming at the nature center and in the community. Help increase the public's awareness, appreciation, and understanding of the natural world. Assist in meeting educational and customer service needs of visitors to Westwood Hills Nature Center.
The position will work 40 hours per week from late May-August 2022, including some weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Currently attending or recent graduate of a four-year degree in biology, outdoor education, education, or another related field.
- Experience teaching as a naturalist at a nature center or similar facility.
- Ability to physically perform all essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to work with children of all ages.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from all cultures and backgrounds in order to achieve the city's strategic objectives for racial equity.
- Ability to work effectively, with minimal supervision and in a group setting
- Ability to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.
