DESCRIPTION

POSITION OBJECTIVE
This temporary position will be asked to conduct nature center programs (predominantly summer day camp), aid in care of captive animals, develop curriculum, and present programs onsite and offsite.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  1. Develop, conduct, and market school environmental education curricula & programs.
  2. Develop, conduct, and market other environmental education programming.
  3. Support volunteers as assigned.
  4. Help to maintain exhibit animals including reptiles, amphibians, and insects.
  5. Receipt and handle monies from nature center store and program registration.
  6. Organize and lead a variety of small group activities as developed by the Springbrook staff.  Activities may include hiking, nature explorations, crafts, games, canoeing, archery, stream and pond hikes, and art and drama activities.
  7. Complete other assigned operational tasks before and after programs such as clean up and room preparation.
  8. Provide fun and engaging activities outdoors.
  9. Identify and respond to camper behavioral issues.
  10. Communicate with parents regarding camper experiences and daily activities.
  11. Respond to inquiries by telephone, email and in person concerning a broad spectrum of natural resource information.
  12. Community event planning and implementation.
  13. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  1. Bachelor's degree in Natural Science, Environmental Education, or related   field.
  2. Experience in interpretive programming with youth.
  3. Ability to be imaginative and innovative in programming with youth.
  4. Experience in care and programming of live animals.
  5. Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  6. Valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Typical schedule for this position is expected to be 40 hours per week, 8:30am-5pm.  Length of seasonal employment will begin on 5/28/2020 and end on 8/26/2020.
