Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Two years of post-secondary education concentrating in biology, ecology, environmental science, science education or a closely related field.
Experience: One year (2080 hours) of experience developing or conducting environmental education and interpretive programs for the general public, school children and/or youth groups, or performing other similar duties.
Substitutions: None.
Desired Qualifications:
Experience developing and leading Summer Camps and/or experience guiding nature-based free play.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, implement and instruct environmental education programs for participants, ages 3-13 y.o, in Tamarack Nature Center's Summer Camp. Content includes interpretation of cultural and natural history, recreation and nature-based free play. Summer Naturalists will work in a team setting with naturalists and youth volunteers. Activities will include daily contact with parents and supervision of individual, small and large group activities; 75-85% of time is spent outdoors. Participation in training and orientation week is required. Perform related duties as assigned.
Season and Time Commitment:
The 2022 summer season runs from June 13th to August 19th and includes a mandatory training week. All Summer Camp staff will be off without pay June 20th and July 4-8th. Summer Naturalists are expected to work 20-45 hours per week, varies by position. Standard work hours are Monday –Friday between the hours of 8 a.m-5p.m. and may include additional opportunities on evenings.
