Job Description

Are you a teacher seeking a fun summer job?

Como Park Zoo and Conservatory is hiring Summer Camp Instructors!

Information specific to this position:

  • Duration: June 9 – August 29, 2025 (minimum three weeks required)
    Schedule: Monday–Friday, ~32 hours per week
    Compensation: $750 weekly stipend

Training:

  • Orientation and camp training are offered on May 17–18, 2025 or May 31–June 1, 2025 (with some scheduling flexibility), plus a $300 training stipend.

Here is what you can expect to do:

  • Prepare and teach assigned camp curriculum
  • Deliver engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences
  • Ensure quality, safety, and consistency in all camp activities
  • Manage classrooms and outdoor settings at the zoo and conservatory
  • Build positive relationships with campers, parents/guardians, and volunteer assistants
  • Adapt and creatively deliver curriculum while problem-solving on the fly

Position Requirements

  • Teaching license or equivalent credentials
  • Minimum of 1 year of classroom experience with PreK–6th grade
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • CPR and First Aid Certification (preferred)
