Temporary Plantmobile Instructor -
(not to exceed 67 days/calendar year)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in education, horticulture, natural sciences or related field
- Experience teaching in a classroom or informal setting
- Strong organizational skills
- Successful Completion of a Background Check
Hourly rate:
$15+ Depending on Qualifications
Description:
The temporary instructor is responsible for delivering high quality one-hour, hands-on plant science presentations to metro-area school groups (up to 30 students) at their location. To achieve this, instructors must manage program supplies and materials, and exhibit strong teaching and presentation skills.
Schedule:
Part time-Full time hours available M-F from April 10-May 29, 2020.
Instructor specific responsibilities include:
- Thoroughly learn the program presentation to be able to teach it with energy, clarity, and flexibility; connecting each student to the program content
- Warmly greet and work with classroom teachers to meet the needs of students and manage group behavior during presentation
- Manage program supplies making sure needed items are stocked and ready for the next instructor
- Safely transport self and supplies to and from school sites in university vehicle
- Closely coordinate with program manager for on-going check-ins and to determine weekly schedule
- Continuously gather ideas and information for program improvement
