Reports to: Environmental Education Director
Dodge Nature Center and Preschool is a non-profit organization committed to delivering high-quality environmental education initiatives across its expansive 462-acre nature reserve located in the communities of West St. Paul, Mendota Heights, and Cottage Grove. Dodge provides environmental education and outdoor education experiences for thousands of people each year through our school programs, outreach, public programs and events. This position will work with diverse audiences from preK-seniors to present many different natural history, environmental and agricultural topics.
Job Functions and Key Responsibilities:
- Teach environmental and agricultural education programs to children and adults.
- Develop and lead camp programs.
- Present public programs and lead birthday parties.
- Lead after school and outreach programs.
- Assist with special events, seasonal projects, animal care, restoration projects and maintenance of program equipment and materials.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in natural sciences, natural resources, education or related field
Experience Requirement: 2 or more years of experience in environmental education, proven ability to work with a variety of audiences
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks that involve manual labor, including lifting and carrying objects up to 50 pounds, and bending. Ability to traverse uneven terrain and spend up to 6 hours per day outside in all types of weather
Driver's License: A valid and current driver's license, with a clean driving record
Passion for Nature: Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of the natural world
