Climate Generation empowers individuals and their communities to engage in solutions to climate change. Based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Climate Generation strategically engages and empowers youth, educators, decision-makers and the public to foster climate literacy and action with the goal of building a more equitable and resilient future for all. Our programs team provides tools, resources, and mentorship to youth, educators, and communities nationwide to teach, talk, and act on climate, rooted in our overarching strategies of overcoming disinformation, centering anti-racism and systemic equity, and personalizing and localizing climate change action.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programs Coordinator maintains cross functional program support. The Programs Coordinator will act in a logistics capacity in supporting youth and educators, ensuring there is coordination, evaluation, and communication across all programs. This position requires an eye on the big picture while coordinating and executing details. The person who will do well in this role has the ability to multitask and effectively communicate across program areas to support synergy and coordinate logistics. This position requires expertise in building relationships and communicating effectively and competently across lines of culture, ethnicity, race, gender, and intersectional identities. This position requires occasional availability outside of regularly scheduled hours for meetings and special functions.
Program Support (80%)
- Supports open, transparent lines of communication across organization,especially between Sr. Director of Programs, Program Managers and Coordinators
- Support Programs team through efficient follow-through on internal and external communication, coordination, and reporting
- Employ established systems that emphasize cohesion, transparency, understanding and collaboration between and across programs while supporting an anti-racist workplace and programming
- Provide logistical support on participant communications, coordinating receipt of payments, purchasing supplies, securing venues, outreach, and thank-yous to event partners including: Educator Institutes, Youth Climate Justice Summit, and community workshops
- Assist on external program requests, identifying appropriate staff and/or supporting programs as appropriate.
- Coordinate tools and technology for webinars and workshops, including registration and set up
- Provide program related information for Community Events calendar in coordination with Marketing and Communications team
- Respond to program team needs for program volunteers by identifying , recruiting, and training volunteers for programs and tracking their hours. Work with Sr. Development coordinator to conduct volunteer appreciation
Communications (10%)
- Facilitate content for Climate Generation communications, including the website, monthly e-newsletter and educator e-newsletter, mailed newsletter, annual report and blogs when appropriate
- With guidance from the Marketing and Communications Manager, ensure program collateral is brand consistent, current and available for outreach opportunities
Organizational Health (10%)
- Participate as an active member of the Climate Generation team through participation in bi-monthly team meetings, team planning days, organizational antiracism commitments, events, and other collaborative Climate Generation activities
- Follow-through on opportunities for professional development
- Organize and maintain stored program materials and equipment
Required Qualifications:
- At least two years of experience organizing and assisting with events
- Strong office experience and organizational skills with ability to prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- High attention to detail.
- Ability to work with small but growing dedicated team
- Ability to interact competently and respectfully with diverse groups of people in a variety of settings
- Comfortable with technology including Zoom, Microsoft/Apple software, Dropbox, Asana (content management system), Google Suite, Slack
- Occasional nights and weekend work commitments, including possible travel depending upon Covid safety
- Committed to an equitable workplace and integrating equity and anti-racism into interpersonal and external communications
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience and/or education in environmental education, youth mentorship, climate or social justice.
- Passion for and commitment to solving the climate crisis through anti-racism and equitable solutions.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range for this position is between $38-42,000 based on experience and qualifications
- Full-time, exempt position, working 40 hours per week
- 20 days of PTO (increases with years of employment), 6 paid holidays and holiday break from December 24th through January 1
- Three percent matching contribution of annual salary to 403(b) retirement plan after one month of employment
- Medical insurance provided through BenefitsMN with Medica and Colonial Life Dental (80% of monthly premiums are covered by employer for Medical and 100% Dental) and Flexible Spending Account for out-of-pocket medical expenses
