The department has an immediate opening for a Manager, Program Services who will perform various duties. Some of the critical responsibilities of this position include providing leadership for educational park programs including design, implementation of environmental educational, outdoor recreation, and outreach programs that serve school groups and the general public.
This is a full-time, exempt, on-site position. Interviews will take place the week of February 10, 2025 for those selected to move forward in the hiring process.
Pay & Benefits
- Salary: $70,012 to $84,011 ($33.66 to $40.39 per hour).
- 2025 Anoka County Salary Schedule Grade 34: $72,012 to $98,009 ($33.66 to $47.12 per hour).

Work Location
- This position will work at Wargo Nature Center, located at 7701 Main St, Lino Lakes, MN 55038.
- Expected work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Job Duties and Responsibilities

- Direct comprehensive park programs and facilities operations, including budgeting, planning, and implementation.
- Oversee a team of programmers and monitor performance of park programs against operational goals, including quality, effectiveness, and safety.
- Apply for grants, administer funding to programs, track spending, and ensure commitments are met.
- Oversee the design and implementation of programs that support the park’s environmental education, outdoor recreation, and outreach objectives.
- Provide direction for planning and implementation of programs to educate and engage the public regarding natural resources and wildlife, such as presentations and interactive stations, off-site programming at schools, scout programs, and summer day camps.
- Review, analyze, and prepare reports, records, and directives regarding park programs.
- Implement a system-wide risk management program and manage emergency situations.
- Provide direction to program services staff to prioritize workloads, train/mentor team members, and collaborate and coordinate with leaders and teams throughout the county.
- Play an active role on the Parks Department leadership team.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years (2,080 annual hours) of job-related experience.
- In lieu of the required education, an equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
- Successfully pass driver’s license background check.
- Must have valid driver's license and vehicle available for business use.

- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships cross functionally.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Ability work independently and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
