Job Description |
By collaborating with the Interpretive Center Manager, the Program Manager will develop, implement and deliver educational programming at the International Wolf Center. Responsibilities include supervising and training education interns, developing and conducting school programs, day and weekend public programs, developing community events, keeping information and styles within current programs up-to-date, and assisting with exhibit maintenance and development.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Percentages are very general but give the best indicator of approximately how much time should be spent in each category.
Program Duties 80%:
- Create, revise and deliver high-quality daily programs, scout programs, events, workshops, WolfLink classes, and Learning Adventures.
- Develop school programs that align with academic standards and age appropriate learning styles.
- Coordinate program arrangements and details with the Interpretive Center Manager, WolfLink Marketing Coordinator and other staff and interns.
- Work with the Interpretive Center Manager to schedule all education programs by responding to program requests, developing itineraries, confirming dates, times and other program information.
- Responsible for the direct supervision and training of education interns, in conjunction with the Interpretive Center Manager.
- Coordinate and lead online webinars.
- Interact with, educate, and assist the general public as needed or assigned.
- Ensure that the most up-to-date research and science behind wolf ecology, behavior, and evolution is shared and used in education department programs and materials.
Administrative Duties 15%:
- Respond to email inquiries and telephone calls.
- Enter appropriate program data on calendars and program trackers.
- Process expense vouchers for personal IWC credit card.
- Responsible for the safe transport of participants in the Center vehicle and participates in general maintenance and upkeep of the vehicle.
- Assist in general maintenance and set-up of exhibits as requested.
- Assist as assigned in the retail department to open, close or provide coverage in the Wolf Den store.
- Provide weekend administrator coverage at the Center.
- Participate in the IWC Education Committee.
Distance Learning Program Support 5%:
- Monitor and make recommendations to the Interpretive Center Manager regarding updates, upgrades and maintenance for distance learning program equipment and processes.
- Develop and update distance learning manuals.
- Train education staff on use of distance learning equipment and programs.
