Job Description
Job Summary

This position supports Fish and Wildlife Outreach communications, events and activities. Activities of the position may include, but not limited to, supporting the section’s grant programs, developing content for DNR website and educational materials, supporting event planning and programming, including the Governor’s Openers, and providing related administrative tasks and other outreach duties as needed.

Qualifications
 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, marketing, natural resources, environmental studies or science, public affairs or related field OR two (2) years of experience in planning, implementing, and measuring the success of non-formal educational or community-based marketing programs, products and services for a regional, statewide, or national-level organization or agency.
  • Interest and knowledge in fish and wildlife management and fishing and hunting skills.
  • Experience presenting data, information and "how to" instruction in an understandable manner to a wide variety of audiences.
  • Human relations and collaborative skills to effectively work to bring together diverse interests to accomplish common objectives.
  • Working knowledge of program administration, budget oversight, written reports, partnership coordination, and equipment/supply inventory.
  • Ability to work with and manage groups with diverse backgrounds, abilities and ages.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products sufficient to prepare and deliver essential communications in the form of emails, Word documents, PowerPoint presentation, etc.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of techniques for reaching out to diverse clientele from various ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds and various levels of ability.
  • Knowledge and experience participating in outdoor recreational activities such as hunting and fishing to effectively design, evaluate and teach skill-building program models.
  • Significant knowledge of natural resource and outdoor recreation topics and issues.
  • Knowledge and experience supporting the administration and monitoring of grant programs.
  • Experience in communications, including writing for web or social media content.
  • Project management skills sufficient to communicate, organize, and manage projects.

Physical Requirements

  • Requires occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties.

Additional Requirements

  • This position requires an unrestricted Class D Driver's License with a clear driving record.
