Serve as the principal statewide contact for the Eco Experience, a joint program of MPCA, Minnesota State Fair and numerous public, private and nonprofit partnering organizations. The position is responsible for directing and developing existing and new initiatives and leading internal and external teams that work together to develop and maintain educational exhibits for the State Fair and other venues through an exhibit loan system.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years advanced professional experience in event management OR public education projects that require leading or directing a diverse team of professionals in planning and implementation.
Experience creating, administering and managing projects or programs from initiation through conclusion, including program planning and evaluation.
Demonstrated problem solving skills in event planning and project management.
Experience working or collaborating with state agencies and/or local government organizations, businesses, interest groups and the public.
Ability to understand a broad range of environmental concepts and to translate technical concepts into clear and concise plain language.
Demonstrated skills in writing, editing and organizing materials.
Ability to prepare and present information that is understandable by the general public and local government officials in order to inform, educate, engage, and encourage behavior change.
Demonstrated ability to use computers, spreadsheet software, word processing software, data management systems and other office equipment.
Strong commitment to a respectful and inclusive work environment that promotes equity and celebrates diversity.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with planning staffing and managing volunteers for large events or venues.
Experience working in outreach and engagement in the environmental or related field.
Experience with hands-on exhibit development and repair.
Experience building strong relationships and a network of private and public sector partners for collaboration on a project or program.
