Join our team as an Omnitheater Operator and help us to provide guidance, coaching, and leading by a good example in customer service excellence to ensure technical show-quality standards are met in support of the museum and its mission. This position utilizes technology and collaboration to effectively provide work oversight within the Omnitheater. The Omnitheater Operator is the supervisor of the shift.
Work Environment: Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds. Must be comfortable working in tight spaces; regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasional high noise levels. Must exhibit the dexterity needed to perform precise motor skills. Must have mechanical and general-use computer aptitude.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Create an exceptional visitor experience by operating Omnitheater equipment with expertise (as formally trained) to ensure that movies and events run on time and are exhibited in the excellent quality expected by audiences, the museum, content distributors, and clients.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service and coach staff in all areas of the visitor experience, including welcoming, responding to inquiries, providing general museum information, scanning tickets, solving technical issues and resolving customer service issues as they occur.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for staff to report technical issues, and partner with the Technical Manager and IMAX Corporation in accurately diagnosing problems (troubleshooting) and performing Omnitheater maintenance during on and off operational hours as scheduled or as necessary in an emergency.
- Communicate effectively with all staff, including the Visit Team, Team Lead, Coordinators, Managers, Event Leads, and Engineers through personal interaction, email, or handheld radio to ensure all aspects of daily operations are fulfilled and to address unexpected situations in accordance to museum policies and procedures.
- Provide guidance to Omnitheater staff in areas of daily operations, policy and emergency procedures.
- Maintain familiarity with all museum policies, procedures, schedules, and programs, including new films, exhibits, and special events.
- Support diversity initiatives across the organization. Contribute to a museum environment, and people, that reflect and respond to the diverse needs and cultures of our community (internal and external).
- Assist with the touring and special handling of identified museum and theater guests.
- Report daily interactions and observations using electronic logging (blogging) for each shift completed, including successes and shortcomings, visitor feedback, technical issues, and any other issues encountered or reported.
- Partner with the Omnitheater’s Technical Manager to support audiovisual sets for special events.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proven customer service and leadership experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Previous theatre, movie theater, or event support experience.
- Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
- Willingness to be open and respectful of all backgrounds.
- Fluency in language(s) other than English valued (Hmong, Somali, Spanish).
Hiring Pay Range: $14.31 – 15.00+ hourly / Depending on Qualifications.
