Job Description

Naturalist

The current vacancy is at Tamarack Nature Center and is permanent part-time (18 hours per week). The eligibility list created by this vacancy may be used to hire other vacancies in the County.

To prepare and conduct interpretive nature programs, environmental education, nature-themed parties, and outdoor recreation programs at parks and open space, and primarily at Tamarack Nature Center; to greet visitors and clients and answer phones and respond to visitor questions; assist with supervision of staff and volunteers and assigned specialty area, and to perform related duties as assigned.

Covid 19
All job offers are conditioned on the candidate being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 with a vaccine authorized for emergency use or FDA-approved.  You will be required to show proof of vaccination on or before your first day of employment and complete a form certifying that you are vaccinated.  Religious and medical exemptions or reasonable accommodations will be considered upon request as required by applicable law.

Minimum Qualifications
Education:  Two years of post-secondary education concentrating in biology, ecology, environmental science, science education, or a closely related field.

Experience: One year (2080 hours) of experience developing or conducting environmental education and interpretive programs for the general public, schools and/or youth groups, or performing other similar duties.

Certifications/Licensure: None

Preferred:  Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Science, Science Education, or a closely related field.
