Job Summary
This position is under the direct supervision of the Northeast/Northwest Regional Unit Supervisor and will be located in the Duluth office. This position will be a municipal wastewater position. The primary duties would be as follows: Scanning and electronically filing documents for the NPDES/SDS Permitting, Biosolids, Data Management, and Pretreatment programs; Assisting the MPCA Water Quality Submittal center with document processing, which includes entering document receipt dates into Tempo and scanning and electronically filing documents; Entering program data into TEMPO including, but not limited to: duty office report information, dental compliance form data, pretreatment monitoring data, biosolids site approval information, biosolids cumulative metals data, and biosolids annual report information; Reviewing, updating, and verifying existing program data in TEMPO; and/or Other administrative or program project needs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Post-secondary education student working on an environmental degree.
- To be eligible for appointment as a Student Worker you must be a student enrolled in an educational program or planning to enroll within three months. Students may be "off" for the summer or for one semester/quarter and remain employed as student workers, but such absences cannot exceed one semester/quarter in a year. As a student you must be enrolled in high school or in a post-secondary or graduate program. If a student is enrolled at a credit-granting institution he/she must carry at least six semester (nine quarter) credits. If enrolled at a non-credit granting institution or one that only offers one credit per class, a student must be taking two or more classes per semester/quarter. Any lesser credit (class) load shall be treated as a semester/quarter off. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least two courses or making progress on a dissertation. You will be asked to complete an Educational Verification form prior to appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Effective written and oral communication skills;
- Ability to work independently and with others;
- Functional computer skills: word processing, spreadsheets, database, internet; and
- Ability to follow directions and carryout detailed processes.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds (file boxes) on a regular basis.

Position duties may require travel but driving is not a minimum qualification or essential function of this position. Employees who may drive for state business will need their driver’s license checked prior to operating a state vehicle.
