Job Description

Join our team as a Volunteer Manager. The Volunteer Manager oversees the Volunteer Services Department. Utilizing volunteer management best practices, this position ensures a robust volunteer program within the Museum that aligns with the mission, vision and values.

Work Environment: Museum public spaces; collaborative office environment.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support and collaborate with organizational leaders regarding their volunteer needs to align with the strategic direction and goals of the organization.
  • Lead the organization toward a continually more inclusive culture by evaluating all volunteer programs, services, and processes through an access and equity lens.
  • Create, implement, manage, and evaluate the volunteer lifecycle including training and enrichment to ensure optimum attraction, engagement, and retention of high performing volunteers to foster positive organizational culture.
  • Function as a representative to future volunteer experiences building relationships and ensuring the sustainability of the volunteer community.
  • Facilitate communication between organizational leadership and volunteers, handling questions, forecasting needs, building positive relationships and helping resolve volunteer-related issues.
  • Compile and maintain valid and reliable volunteer database, processes and policies to ensure integrity, clarity and consistency in the volunteer community.
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
  • Responsible for creating and monitoring a robust budget, which contributes to cost-effective operation of the museum.
  • Ensure that volunteers are positioned well and supported in their interactions with visitors to provide engaging, personalized and educational experiences.
  • Completes other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associates degree.
  • Proven experience in a volunteer management/engagement role.
  • Ability to listen, understand and communicate information and ideas through spoken and written words and sentences.
  • Ability to utilize all aspects of technology, including computer hardware and software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
  • Willingness to be open and respectful of all backgrounds.
  • Fluency in language(s) other than English valued (Hmong, Somali, Spanish).

Starting rate: $52,000+ annually / Depending on Qualifications.
