Job Description

Children's Country Day School is a nurturing, farm and nature-based preschool fostering a love of learning, respect for others, and a positive self-concept. We are situated on a 7-acre model farm, overlooking picturesque St. Paul. Children's Country Day School has been providing quality early childhood education for over 50 years.

We are looking to add a high-quality Lead Toddler Teacher to our team.

This staff member would work collaboratively with a co-lead teacher paired with the same group of students (ages 16-23 months or 24-30 months) for the entire school year.

 

The ideal candidate:

  • Enjoys working with toddler-aged children and excels at creating positive relationships with the students
  • Has the ability to view children’s unwanted behaviors as opportunities for growth
  • Has strong age-appropriate behavior management skills
  • Excels at creating a safe and welcoming learning environment for all students
  • Can multi-task and demonstrates flexibility as an employee
  • Can create engaging, age-appropriate curriculum for toddler students
  • Has good time management skills and is reliable in attendance
  • Works well with co-workers and exhibits positive communication skills
  • Is comfortable with taking feedback and has a willingness to learn new things
  • Enjoys spending time outdoors in every season

 

Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Creating a safe and loving environment for the students
  • Caring for children’s basic needs and supporting them with diapering, snacks/meals, naptime and more
  • Communicating daily with parents, sharing specific highlights of each student’s day
  • Creating weekly lesson plans taking place both indoors and outdoors
  • Conducting parent-teacher conferences twice per year
  • Selecting classroom materials for the indoor learning centers
  • Supporting children through various social situations and providing guidance for behavior management as needed
  • Conducting student observation and assessment

 

Applicants must be Rule 3 Teacher or Assistant Teacher qualified. See requirements at https://www.revisor.mn.gov/rules/9503/ Must be able to occasionally lift children 50+ pounds and be able to bend, crawl, kneel and crouch when interacting with the children. At this time, all staff members must be up to date with Covid-19 vaccinations or go through weekly Covid testing. This requirement will expire once all children in our program are eligible for Covid-vaccinations.

 

 

This position would be for 40 hours per week. The employee would be eligible for a generous health and dental insurance plan in addition to a matching Simple IRA retirement plan. Our teachers receive excellent support and opportunities for professional growth. We offer competitive pay based on education and experience. Start date is flexible.
