Join our Kitty Andersen Youth Science Center (KAYSC) as an Operations Manager and help us to support the KAYSC through effective organization, communication, and planning while focusing on youth and departmental needs in support of the museum KAYSC initiatives. This work will result in successful youth programs which in turn support the strategic goals of the KAYSC and the Science Museum of Minnesota. This individual will serve multiple functions of the department including but not limited to managing and overseeing KAYSC operations, planning and coordination of KAYSC public programs, supervision of youth and young adult staff, managing budget cost centers, maintaining key partnerships, and serving as the first point of contact for various KAYSC stakeholders.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide ongoing support and engage in KAYSC - wide strategic planning processes
- Define the current and future infrastructure needs of the department and ensure that systems are in place to meet business goals and requirements - provides solutions and troubleshoots through operational challenges and difficult situations.
- Manage systems and engage staff in support of the streamlined coordination of KAYSC programs and infrastructure meeting various operational timelines (evaluation/assessment, budget oversight, events, KAYSC space planning).
- Collaborate with peers to ensure integration, encouragement, and cooperation with project management systems across the KAYSC program pathway and between applicable departments.
- Hire, lead, coach, professionally develop, and manage a team of young adult staff (age 18-25) in order to achieve high performance while meeting the needs of the mission surrounding KAYSC administrative functions, events, and assessment and evaluation.
- Coordinate quarterly Advisory Council meetings with strategic partners (parents, community partners, and alumni) to ensure the accountability of KAYSC programs to key stakeholders.
- Support grant writing and contract processes to further the long-range objectives and funding of KAYSC programs.
- Oversee communication processes and materials as needed (quarterly newsletters, annual community reports, regular program update documents to internal staff, information for funder meetings), ensure effect design and creation of effective online content for the KAYSC’s many programs and initiatives, and maintain systems for archiving program curriculum for both internal and external clients, as applicable.
- Coordinate meeting and space logistics (both one time and ongoing): contact attendees and secure space, secure necessary equipment, arrange for food and beverages as needed, ensure proper use of KAYSC space by various programs and partnering departments.
- Coordinate and support the successful implementation of a monthly professional development series for KAYSC young adult and adult staff to ensure a culture of continuous improvement (identifying speakers/presenters, and coaching staff to develop and deliver workshops).
- Develops, prepares and maintains budgets to ensure accountability while adhering to budgetary guidelines for KAYSC events and administrative functions.
- Build relationships across the division and the museum to establish and follow museum-wide standards to ensure the most effective business strategy.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience in operations leadership.
- Proven experience in managing large scale projects for self and for departments.
- Proven experience managing staff, preferably young adults.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in nonprofit leadership, management, finance, business or related field preferred.
- Equivalent experience may be substituted for formal education.
- Cultural competency and experience working with diverse communities.
- Willingness to be open and respectful of all backgrounds.
- Fluency in language(s) other than English valued (Hmong, Somali, Spanish).
Starting Pay Rate: $60,000 USD or more per year / Depending on Qualifications.
