TITLE: Growing Good Team Facilitator: Growing Good Community Veggies Team (one position)
SUPERVISOR: Manager of Youth Education
CLASSIFICATION: TACE 67-day appointment 0001
WORK SCHEDULE: Start May 1, 2022 End August 31, 2022. 36 hours/week for 11 weeks (396 total

OVERVIEW:
The Growing Good Community Veggies facilitator will lead two teams of teen interns to grow,
harvest, and distribute high-quality, nutritious, produce within the community. The facilitator will
be responsible for guiding a learning experience for young people to explore and participate in
the local food system by growing and distributing produce and learning about community
resources to deal with community nutrition, food insecurity, and access to fresh locally grown
produce, while building teamwork, leadership, and first time job skills. (21st Century Job Skills)

JOB DESCRIPTION
66% Direct Facilitation of Youth Team Work Days (24 hours/week average):
● Set the stage for success for two teams of 6 Youth Interns to grow, harvest, and
distribute fresh healthy produce within the community.
● Plan and identify experiences of interest for the team to learn about the local food system, and
growing food plants.
● Build and maintain a positive, team-oriented culture
● Plan for engaging youth voice, learning opportunities, and community engagement as
part of the work experience.
33% Project Planning and Documentation (12 hours/week average):
● Attend weekly team meetings with Growing Good team, and weekly check-in meetings
with the Youth Education Manager and as needed with Community Partner
representatives.
● Document lesson plans and results weekly and prepare a summary report at end of the
Summer.
● Cultivate relationships with Community Partner and the community as needed.
● Contribute to the project report evaluation
● Additional duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Passion, skill and experience working with teenagers or youth in formal and/or
non-formal education setting
● Experience growing food plants
● Successful completion of mandatory background check
● Drivers license (drive a minivan with youth team).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
● Experience and interest in plants and gardens
● Experience working in diverse urban communities
● College coursework in horticulture, education, youth development, or related field
● Experience with project coordination
● Experience with working within a collaborative project or partnership between two
organizations.
